It has been nearly two years since I have parented two children full time for any stretch of days. For the last 7 days I have had both of my girls all day. Guys, this parenting stuff is exhausting! I love my kids but they sure do make making any sort of plans near to impossible! And my sewing/blogging/creating time has suffered monstrously.
In addition, on Monday morning Nolan's Mom texted me that she was having pre labour contractions! He wasn't expected until August so I quickly changed my morning plans to help her run a few errands and keep her company while her husband tied up some loose ends at work. Of course, this also upped the urgency for finishing his quilt. I know she wouldn't mind if it was a little later but I love bringing along a little something when I get my first baby snuggles!
I've been quilting up a storm while my friend laboured. And laboured. And then laboured some more. Just minutes ago I got the message that Nolan has finally made his appearance. Yep, you read that right. 55 hours of labour! Poor mama!!
I think just a few more hours and this will be ready to go home with it's new owner. But I need your help! I've been planning on quilting the green tooth all along but as I took this picture I kind of like that the puffiness makes it stand out a little more. What do you think?

Love the one green splash on this quilt. So fresh and clever.
ReplyDeleteI agree with wombatquilts, love the splash of green! Great choice.
ReplyDeleteMaybe quilt it but quilt it differently? Diagonally?
ReplyDeleteI love the pop of green as well, I say go for unquilted, why not! And omg 55 hours?! Bless her heart.
ReplyDeleteI am stopping by from the WIP hop, hop by if you get a chance! http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2013/07/wip-wednesday-july-24th-edition.html
I would quilt it, but in the opposite direction! Such a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow, those DO look like my paper-pieced blocks! Love love love houndstooth, this is going to be a really cool quilt. And after 55 hours, your friend really deserves a cool quilt! Thanks for linking up. : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I love the green block. I would leave it unquilted.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is awesome! I would just quilt around the edge of the green one.
ReplyDeleteI like the green tooth un-quilted too :) I'm struggling to work out how to quilt my houndstooth so thank you for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteI too would quilt it the green 'tooth'. But maybe echo quilt it?
ReplyDeleteWow, 55 hours?? Poor thing! At least it's over and she can come home to a new baby and a new quilt!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the green square... I love it, but I am having a hard time imagining it quilted! I agree with the other commenters, though. If you do quilt it, do it differently than the rest of the quilt!
Congrats to Nolan's mom... your quilt looks awesome so far
