WIP Wednesday
This dress is definitely not my brainchild. I saw it first on pinterest and followed it back to it's owner pecan-sandies . A friend also pinned it as something she wanted for her daughter. She's not a sewer, my daughter doesn't do dresses well and so I immediately knew I would be making it for her.
The idea rolled around in my head, I went out and bought the fabric, cut it into squares and stalled. A month passed before I was motivated to start working again. I sewed all of the strips together, ruffled and made a big trapezoid before I stalled again. I couldn't wrap my head around how to do the lining. A few months later and my friend's daughter was nearing her first birthday. So I figured I better get my butt in gear LOL.
She turned one on Monday and fortunately this dress is 18-24 months (to allow maximum twirling time). I'm crossing my fingers that my friend will take some pictures of Isla spinning and let me post them here!

Progress!!
The girl's went to stay with their grandparents for the weekend and I sewed. A lot. But now I feel like there has been some progress made and my stress level has finally lowered a notch or two :) Still lots to be done in the next 10 days but I'm feeling like it's doable now.

WIP Wednesday
I have about a hundred works in progress (WIPs). Probably many hundreds if you count all of the ideas I've pinned. And at least a dozen that I have gone out and bought the fabric for, maybe even started. Then I hit a snag or a difficult part and I set it aside and months pass before I remember it again.
Eventually I would like Wednesday posts to feature photos of me completing at least one of these projects. But with the craft fair drawing near and the weather getting colder that didn't happen this week. So I leave you with photos of a few WIPs that inched closer to completion.
This is the start of a blanket for my youngest daughter. She's just 18 months old and up until now has slept with just her lovey blanket. But it's too small to cover her completely and still have enough left for her to shove up into her face. It's been getting colder so this one needs to be jumped up the priority list a bit. I'm going out of my comfort zone and attempting a puff quilt!
Remember the scary tower of fleece? Today during naps it became the scary tower of hats waiting to be sewn. That pile has nearly doubled since I took that photo!
Hopefully next week there will be an actual completed project to show.

The Best Time to Start a Blog
It's obviously when your plate is overflowing with a million other things of priority LOL. But I'm really excited to get started and don't want to put it off until the time is "perfect".
I'm excited to finally have a place to AW all of my handmade/DIY projects and have a journal of this amazing journey of putting together our first home and starting my sewing business. If nothing else, I will have a great journal of this time in our life. But hopefully someone will come along and join me :)
